Being stone is a difficult identity to navigate, whether you’re a stone butch or a stone femme. It is difficult to experience dysphoria around sex, difficult to feel like you are somehow selfish - either because you don’t allow your partner full access to your body or because you don’t “reciprocate” according to people with very strong opinions about what sex should be like. If you’re a stone butch, it’s ok to refuse to be touched, to refuse to show yourself naked. If you’re a stone femme, it’s ok to refuse to touch your partner in ways that make you uncomfortable or dysphoric. Stone butches and stone femmes are real lesbians, no matter how we choose to express ourselves sexually. We don’t ask non-stone lesbians to understand what it means to be stone, because you can’t, but please respect us.
